Abstract:

The paper aims to evaluate the public perception of the elderly in three main ethnic groups in Bulgaria: Bulgarian, Turkish and Gypsy (Roma). Special attention is devoted to age discrimination of old people in different ethnic groups with the use of standardized indicators; followed by description and comparative analysis of narratives. The demographic background is displayed in order to introduce readers to the context of the problems of old people in the country. The research results are in the field of public policy, and its adequacy to the most urgent needs of old people in Bulgaria at the present time.
