Abstract:

The monograph follows the eponymous exhibition project conceived by curators Fremlová, Petišková, and Vartecká, which was presented at the Brno House of Arts in 2014. The publication has its central, catalogue part, which is preceded by expert studies dwelling on a host of topics explored by the project, and followed by authorised interviews with the female artists. The texts dwell on the topic of creating the gender experience of the female artist in the Czechoslovak context in the second half of the 20th century, and the issue of oral history, which is a key concept for the whole project. Next part describes the current state of art management with regard to the degree of presentation and presence of this particular generation. Expert studies present a selection of sociological terms related to ageing and creativity and present interpretation of the interviews with the artists, where authors see old age as the space for layering experience and learning. All studies have been translated into English.
